Christmas Tree Carols 2016

Carols 2016

This now annual event was another success with mild and dry weather, a good turn out, a brass ensemble and a lovely tree.

The tree had been bought by Shalford Parish Council and organised by their clerk Nuala Livesey with help from Frankie Ago of the Snooty Fox and others.

Bill Birkett, Chairman of the Parish Council, welcomed everyone and then the countdown to the switching on of the lights was done by Pablo of 2Mouro’s barber shop in his native Spanish!

The tree went from just a plain green tree to a beautiful Christmas tree full of sparkling lights with the flick of a switch. It was also adorned with hanging shapes decorated by local children, supplied by Friends of Shalford and organised by Mandy in Snooty’s Groceries.

The carol singing was led by Liz van Eykenhof and the choir from St Mary’s Church and brilliantly accompanied by young musicians: Matthew Tate on the trumpet, Lizzie Baumberg on the horn and Danny Baumberg on the Euphonium. The evening continued with mulled wine in the orchard opposite Snooty’s Grocery shop. All in all a lovely evening—thanks to all who helped to organise it.
