New Village Shop

Shop

Shalford’s new village shop opened on 26th July and is already doing well – both as a business and as part of the village community. The shop is impressive. It is an attractive and welcoming shop – bigger than you might imagine – and it has a wide range of items at reasonable prices. Frankie Ago, Adrienn Janosi and Bill Birkett are the three people who have created this new village shop.

Frankie moved to this country from Hungary eight years ago. He worked at the Snooty Fox café for a while before buying it four years ago. Now he has opened “Snooty’s Groceries” with the help of his fiancée Adrienn and friend Bill. Snooty’s Groceries stocks all the items you’d expect for your convenience in a small village shop and more…

There is also a range of local produce: fresh bread and bakery items from Hillyers Bakery in Farncombe; sausages and other cuts of fresh meat from Rawlings of Cranleigh; some fresh fruit and vegetables from Bramley’s Apple greengrocers; fresh sandwiches and freshly baked baguettes from the Snooty Fox (of course!) and locally brewed beer from the Hogs Back Brewery.

There are dedicated short-term parking spaces outside the shop, while the open approach provides plenty of space for walkers and cyclists to enjoy an ice cream or snack they have bought. Apart from all this, your new village shop is also the place to go for cash and there will soon be a community notice board outside. In the near future, people will be able to buy their lottery tickets there too.

It is conveniently located on the approach to the railway station, next to the toy shop on the corner with Kings Road. Opening times are 6.30am to 9pm Monday to Saturday and 7am to 6pm on Sunday.
